The Sydney Opera House

Sitting by an ocean harbor, the Sydney Opera House celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in October of 2023. Go behind the scenes and see The People’s House: Sydney Opera House at 50 at the Museum of Sydney. This commemoration of the last five decades of the Sydney Opera House features extraordinary costumes, architectural drawings, and rare archival records. Then return to see the Sydney Opera House with new eyes, ready to admire fifty years of music, performance, and beauty.

Vivid

Celebrate with Sydney for the biggest light festival in the world—Vivid. From May 24th to June 15th each year, Sydney is transformed into a brilliant wonderland of colors and lights with art installations and 3D light projections. Each of Sydney’s iconic structures will be lit up as you walk through downtown, listening to live music from both established and emerging artists. While passing through the displays, be sure to check out the pop-up markets filled with one-of-a-kind souvenirs during the brightest party of the year.

Manly Beach

While in Sydney, catch a ferry to Manly Beach, the locals’ favorite harbor destination in the city. Enjoy swimming, surfing, or just relaxing on the golden sands of one of Australia’s most well-loved beaches. Then, go explore the 200 shops that line Manly’s boardwalk as you explore boutiques and enjoy Australia’s famous bundles of fish and chips.

The Blue Mountains

After enjoying city attractions, escape the crowds and head up to the Blue Mountains. Govetts Leap is a lesser-known lookout with a view of tall waterfalls, sheer cliffs, and the deep canyons of Grose Valley. The Three Sisters is a crowd favorite—a stunning group of three rock formations that holds a legend important for the lands and culture of Australia.

If you want to brave even more of the bush, The Lost City is a natural wonder of rock formations resembling buildings reaching for the sky. You can access it by hiking, using a four-wheel drive vehicle, or using a two-wheel drive vehicle from certain points. Those who aren’t deterred by the journey will be rewarded with an unforgettable view.

Whether you enjoy the history of an iconic landmark, parties that light up the night, waves crashing on golden beaches, or natural wonders as far as the eye can see, Sydney, Australia, has everything you need to create magical memories that last a lifetime.
